Open opportunitIES

OSINT Intern / Junior Analyst (Remote, Flexible)

Location: Remote
Commitment: Flexible, Part-Time (~5 hrs/week baseline)

Overview

We’re looking for individuals interested in open-source intelligence (OSINT), investigations, and real-world analysis work.

This is not a traditional internship with rigid responsibilities or structured coursework. Instead, it’s an opportunity-driven role where you gain exposure by contributing to internal work and, if you choose, participating in optional real-world casework.

What You’ll Do

General Internship Contributions (Baseline – ~5 hrs/week)

These are the core expectations of the internship:

  • Assist with improving report templates, workflows, and SOPs
  • Support internal documentation and knowledge base updates
  • Help with miscellaneous operational tasks (e.g., formatting, research, content support)
  • Contribute to general team needs as they arise

Optional OSINT Casework (Paid, Separate Agreement)

Interns may be offered the opportunity to take on real OSINT casework under a separate independent contractor agreement.

This may include:

  • Collecting data from a variety of open sources
  • Validating and filtering data (removing false positives, identifying relevant signals)
  • Structuring findings into pre-defined report templates
  • Supporting real-world investigative and intelligence-driven cases

Important:

  • This work is not guaranteed
  • Participation is completely optional
  • Work is paid per project under a separate agreement
  • You control your level of involvement based on availability and interest

What You’ll Gain

  • Exposure to real-world OSINT workflows and investigative processes
  • Experience contributing to internal systems, documentation, and operations
  • The opportunity to work on actual casework (if you opt in)
  • A strong, resume-relevant foundation in data handling, research, and analysis
  • Professional reference and/or letter of recommendation (based on performance)

Who This Is For

  • Individuals with a genuine interest in OSINT, investigations, or intelligence work
  • People who want real exposure, not just theoretical learning
  • Self-directed learners who take initiative and ownership
  • Candidates comfortable working with data and learning new tools independently

Requirements

  • Basic familiarity with OSINT concepts (not starting from zero)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to filter relevant vs irrelevant information
  • General technical literacy (comfortable using modern tools and workflows)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Prior experience with OSINT tools or methodologies
  • Experience with structured reporting or analytical work
  • Exposure to investigative workflows or intelligence-related fields

Important Notes

  • This is an unpaid internship
  • There is no formal training program; however, this is a guided, hands-on environment
  • For both internal contributions and optional casework, you will have access to support, including:
    • an operations manager or team member for questions and guidance
    • review and feedback on your work
    • revisions and iterative improvement
  • If you take on casework, you are expected to complete deliverables, but you are not left on your own—you’ll be supported throughout the process
  • Similarly, for general tasks (e.g., documentation, marketing support), expectations, context, and feedback are provided so you can learn through doing
  • Engagement level is flexible, but initiative is expected and deadlines must be met once agreed too
  • You will get out of this experience what you put into it
